Can't Compare to You

Mmm . . . Cake!

As you've heard, I drive through the park every day on the way to work.

At the end of the summer, I noticed a guy walking along the road. He had quite a limp but still had a huge grin on his face.

The next day, I saw him again. And then the next day. It was obvious that he was in pain as he walked but he continued to grin and I began waving. And the more we saw each other, the bigger we waved.

I know it's weird, but I've begun to feel like this guy is my buddy. And since it's colder, he's not out so much. But on the days that I do see him, my day is a little brighter.

Four years ago today, I started rambling here. I know the content is far from brilliant, but I hope I've brought a smile to your face.

And I Know I'm Countin' Good Times

Jill and Me

Twenty five years ago today, I was the cutest flower girl ever.

Okay. So I might have had some competition from my cousin Jill. No really! It was a serious competition!

Our mothers made our dresses and when I saw Jill's, I was crazy jealous. Hers was longer! That made the pink ruffled dress so much more sophisticated! I was so mad at my mom!

Someone pointed us toward our flower baskets and we rushed to them. Jill beat me to the table. I'm sure it had something to do with her long dress and nothing with the fact that she has always been a way better athlete than me.

Jill grabbed a basket and of course it was the best one! The ribbons were better, there were more flowers . . . why does she get everything?

But, being the experienced flower girl I was, I sucked it up and put on a stellar performance.

But who was the happily-getting-hitched couple?

Christmas at Grandma's 2005

Oh come on, kids! It's no laughing matter! You've made it twenty five years! That's a freaking miracle!

If you know BJ, you totally know what I mean.

Happy Anniversary!

Below This Same Remembering Sky

Daddoo et Momma

Today, my parents are celebrating thirty years of wedded bliss.

Dad celebrated by mowing the lawn while Mom worked at the pool all day. Romantic, no?

We celebrated as a family last week with a trip to Kansas City. And when I say we, I really mean Marcus, T-Biscuit and I celebrated. Because all weekend long, my parents would ask "What do you want to do? Where do you want to go? Won't you take this money to have a good time?"

I know. We're incredibly spoiled. But somehow, my parents have a good time watching us have a good time. They're cool like that.

And don't think it was all about us. They had an ulterior motive in all this. The more time we spent doing the stuff we wanted to do meant more time for them to spend time alone with The Boy. Their favorite.

Thanks for the fun times--in Kansas City and all the years before! Happy Anniversary!Yuck.

I Bet You Tied a String on Your Finger

Mmm . . . Cake!

Well, it looks like Miss Celebrate Any Occasion has gone and forgot the anniversary of her first post.

Whoops.

Please refer to everything I said last year.

And, in some sort of coincidence, I've been trashing and rearranging my place all weekend.

Thanks for sticking with me!
