Will You Meet Me in the Middle?

EW!

"If Kenley wins Project Runway, I'm going to vomit. Really. Like so hard and projectile, you'll see it in San Francisco."

"Me, too. Maybe our vomit will collide over Utah."

After checking MeetWays, I can see it totally would!

Good calculation!

Take a Look Around, Look What I Found

Running!

Things I found recently on the internet that made me feel good:

Lyle Lovett Sells Millions, Makes Nothing.

No, I'm not excited that Lovett hasn't made any money off sales. I'm sure he's getting screwed, and screwed hard. But he seems to be doing okay and that gives me ideas.

"The possibilities are very exciting, I think," Lovett told Billboard.com. "I've never made a dime from a record sale in the history of my record deal. I've been very happy with my sales, and certainly my audience has been very supportive. I make a living going out and playing shows."
If Lyle Lovett can be happy with the living he's making by playing shows, can't everyone? The music industry has to change.

I'm just saying this because I want iTunes to go subscription. I'd gladly pay a monthly fee to be able to download as much music as I want to. Make my dreams come true, people!

If I had a speaker at my high school graduation like Patton Oswalt, I mighta made something outta myself!

All of you have been given a harsh gift. It’s the same gift the graduating class of 1917, and 1938, and 1968 and now you guys got – the chance to enter adulthood when the world teeters on the rim of the sphincter of oblivion. You’re jumping into the deep end. You have no choice but to be exceptional.

Take a Look Around, Look What I Found

Splash!

Things I found recently on the internet that made me feel bad:

Remember when I was complaining about how the ridiculous cattiness of girls never goes away?

It's so true. And insane.

Apparently, this is really old news, but there was an outbreak of silly junior high behavior on the US Women's Soccer Team.

Hope Solo was cranky after a loss in the World Cup. And she expressed her anger to a reporter.

What did her teammates do? I'm sure they said "Hey. Zip it. Suck it up and let's go. We've got another game to concentrate on."

Oh. No I guess I'm wrong. They did what any mature team would do and banned her from the third-place game. She wasn't even allowed to attend the medal ceremony. They wouldn't allow her to eat or even fly home with the team.

But the healing process hasn't been easy. Solo issued a formal public apology to Scurry and Ryan when she rejoined the team in St. Louis last October. But behind closed doors things only got worse. At a team meeting that Solo says had been billed as a first step forward, players took turns telling her how upset she'd made them. Solo wasn't allowed to play or train with the team during the tour, and only midfielder Carli Lloyd broke ranks to sit next to her on the bench, visit her in her room and join her for meals.
They banned her from the cool table at lunch! How much more juvenile can it get?

There is no hope for us, ladies!!!

Remember this couple?

Tyler Ziegel was in Iraq for the second time when he was incredibly disfigured in an attack by a suicide bomber. His fiancee, Renee, stayed with him until he was well enough to marry her.

The marriage didn't last a year.

“Nothing was ever really wrong. It just wasn’t right. Going into the marriage? I’d never been married before. I think we were okay. The wedding – it was so planned. There was this thing... ” He breaks off and gets up to retrieve the framed certificate. It’s from the state of Illinois declaring his wedding a state holiday. “To call something like that off...”
It sounds like they got caught up in the "You gotta get married!" machine. It's bad enough for regular folks, but can you imagine the pressure on these two?

Renee stuck in there longer than most young women would. Long enough that it surprised me that they dissolved their marriage so soon.

I guess it's not much different from a lot of marriages these days. Everyone seems to be so eager to rush in and then can't wait to get out.

And Made Me Smile for More

*“It’s a bit spooky, innit?”

*Somehow, I don't think things would turn out this G-rated if I tried it.

*No really, you can buy me one. And pay to run it and stuff.

*Oh, Keith.

At Mick’s gayest, how gay was he?
It was camp.
Camp?
Yeah. It was all… I really have no idea if anyone ever . . .

*HAHA!
It's not a consequence of the internet. It's a consequence of cheating being way easier!

*I spent an hour yesterday on this game.

*I told you she's a lush!

*Everyone's linking to this one. Oh man. I can't even seem to pinpoint what this emotion is.

*Nor this one.

*And this may be the creepiest thing I've ever seen.

And Made Me Smile for More

*This is awesome because I remember the internet in 1995. I think I even saw that lightning video. But I was surprised to hear there were modems slower than 14.4!

*The wall of my dreams!

*This is why Twitter is awesome. I LOL'd. 4RL.

*Oops!

*I'm sure you've probably already seen it, but Google Sky is a good time-waster!

*Good idea!

*And I always heard he was a jerk.

*"You go, Where did that come from?" he says. "You kind of go, Dude, weren't you in Dunston Checks In?"

Lists: Day Seven

Cijay

It all started with Bacon Cups.

How clever! I wondered what other creative things I could do with bacon.

I had no idea just how crazy people were for bacon. The internet is full of bacon-related websites. I found all kinds of crazy bacon things.

Bacon Cake
Bacon Soap
Bacon Cupcakes
Chocolate Covered Bacon
Bacon Baklava
Bacon Flavored Rolling Papers
Bacon Vodka
Bacon Candy Bars
Bacon Air Fresheners
Bacon Coffee
Bacon Beer
Bacon Candy
Bacon Water
And then there's the ultimate. The Bacon Cheese Baconburger

There was more. A ton more.

Bacon is seriously giving cats a run for king of the internet.

Call Me Call Me Any Anytime

My . . . Coke.

You might have noticed a few changes in the sidebars here.

To your right, you'll see two new widgets from AdaptiveBlue.

While I think Frazy is a good website, the scripts I had to use were too much. I wanted something that would show what movies and books I'm reading without having to do a lot of work. Now, instead of having to go in and write a review for each movie I've seen and then tweaking the scripting to show that new post, AdaptiveBlue does everything for me!

They also have a product that works with Firefox called BlueOrganizer. That's what I'm using to update my book list. I think there's a lot of potential for me to use it other ways, I just haven't had the chance to really play with it.

I was also impressed by the fact that the company apparently actually pays attention to what their users are doing. I received an email that basically said "Hey I saw what you did. It looks cool. How are you finding the experience? Do you need help? Send me an email if you need anything."

Much cooler than your normal nameless, faceless, "Do Not Reply to This Message" email.

To your left, you'll see a new "Call Me" button.

It actually works! You can seriously call me with that button!

Google is starting a new service, GrandCentral. They give you a phone number and people can call it through your blog. You can set it up to ring right through to all your phones. If you're not available, the call will go through to an online voicemail box. You can listen to the voicemail from your phone or right online. You can even post the voicemails for others to listen.

For some reason, there were no Wichita phone numbers available, so I chose one from my hometown. So now I guess Mamo and my parents can call me for free now.

When you click on the "Call Me" button, you enter your phone number. If you don't want me to see your number, just make sure the box beside "Private" is checked. GrandCentral will then call you so that you can be connected to my number. It sounds more complicated than it is.

So give it a try. Leave me a message. I promise I'll call you back.

You know . . . unless I'm asleep.

And Made Me Smile for More

*I got the link to this freaky shizznit from this guy and had the same reaction. But I didn't IRL LOL until this part (Man I love it when people spell sounds!):

I am still having nightmares where I wake up and that disembodied head is floating above my bed making a noise that sounds like "pshwwwsshwwwwhhhwwwwssssshssssshshshsssswwww."

*I do, too!

*Maybe They should make the kid work off his debt?

*I held my breath while I looked at these photographs. They are equal parts exciting, awesome and creepy.

*I wonder what all is on this thing.
"What color do you like for the house, Bill?"
"I'm not sure. How about we send the colors up in space and see which does best when bombarded with space junk?"

*And now for your weekly dose of "I shouldn't be laughing but it's soooo funny!"

Seriously. I can't stop laughing at the way she just hits the ground. It's okay. She lived.

And Made Me Smile for More

I've pretty much been asleep for the last couple of days. So I missed "Tab Tuesday." I figured while I have my eyes open, I'd be semi-productive and get these tabs cleaned out.

I always think of Sugarbutt when I see fractals. I think she'd like these:

Yes! I do want Tetris ice cubes!

"It's a privilege and an honor . . ." But . . .

Maybe I do want kids!
But if I have them, I won't take them to these playgrounds.
And I'll follow these directions:

These toys are awesome!

But why are their arms so long?

Well, this helps explain the hole in the ozone layer!

It Started So Easy

I came home and someone was blasting the Air Supply. Awesome!

I was looking up the song on Amazon and found Sexton Blake Plays the Hits! It looks full of not just Makin' Love, but other awesome songs!

Then, while looking up that video, I found the same song by Bonnie Tyler. Way awesome!

Okay, so it's not super awesome or anything. I don't know what's going on at the beginning and the opera stuff is weird, but it's Bonnie Tyler! She sang one of my favorite songs ever!

No really. I was seriously obsessed with that song when I was a kid. When I looked this up on Amazon, I find out that she also did covers of two of my other all-time favorites:

That's being brutally honest, folks!

Can you imagine creating a song like that?

Do you see how easily I get lost among the internets?

I didn't know Aretha played piano!

And Made Me Smile for More

Hey Kids! It's time for a new installment I like to call Tab Tuesdays!

You see, my poor browser gets full of links I want to share. I'm always too lazy to write about them and if I don't post the links, I end up closing the tab at some point. Then these gems are lost forever!

I've decided to designate Tuesdays as the day I'm going to clean all that crap out. I can't say it's going to be too exciting or life enriching. Plus my "installments" never last very long. But here we go!

We wants an elephant for Christmas!

And a pony!

And a new ball!

I already got some of these. AND I NEED MORE! I NEED MY FIX!

Take a Look Around, Look What I Found

The things I find on Wikipedia!

This is what I found in the article I linked to earlier today.

In the south there is a drink, often served at college parties, composed of lemon-lime soft drink, grenadine, vodka, and garnished with a maraschino cherry, typically called a "Shirley Vomit," due to its similarity to a Shirley Temple and alcohol's tendency to cause one to vomit when ingested in large quantities.

Was a Better Place, Full of Space

Mmm . . . Cake!

The other day at work, this girl I don't even know walked by and said "I think that's a really cute shirt." I realized she was talking to me.

"Oh. Thanks." That's where most people would end the conversation but my mouth just never wants to stop. "I got it on clearance at Target. I don't think there's any left."

Is it sad that I would know that all four Target stores in Wichita are out of a particular shirt?

"I didn't know Target had cute stuff like that."

The world stopped around me. What was this crazy lady talking about?

"I never go to Target!"

I clutched my chest. "My heart! You break my heart! Target is my favorite!"

And she continued walking.

I know I may be creepy but I have reasons for feeling as passionately as I do about Target as opposed to other stores. Mostly because I never read stories like this about Target:

This is Why You Never Order Custom Cakes from WalMart.
